Metal Working

A new hobby (like I need another).  Actually the desire to have a Lathe and Mill was born out of my reluctance to pay anyone to do anything for me, and I've always wanted to have them.  It will be very nice to make my own custom parts for my vehicles, my telescopes, and my computers.

Rong Fu  - A page describing my RF-30 Mill Drill.

Logan  - A page describing my Logan model 1922 lathe.

   Levelers - Cheap machine levelers.

   Projects:
Shaft for Celestron mount.
Brass 2" to 1.25" eyepiece Adapter  (helps maintain balance when switching between light 1.25" eyepieces, and the sometimes much heavier 2" versions. Micrometer holder for lathe.

I'd eventually like to start making focusers and other telescope parts, and have purchased www.telescopecomponents.com in anticipation of doing so.   There isn't anything there yet, so don't bother clicking on the link.  I will probably start out making brass 2" to 1.25" adapters, which seem to be in high demand, yet no one makes them.   I have some ideas for a Crayford style focuser as well.    My goal is to make enough money to pay for the machinery.  After that,  who knows.
